[lug] samba weirdness with groups

I have a strange samba problem that maybe someone has come across. I have
a samba server in security=share mode. I have a bunch of users in the
group "users" and they have valid smb accounts and passwords set via
smbpasswd -a. If I make a share with the option

username = +users

I cannot connect to the share unless that user has connected from the
computer before. If I put

username = userA, userB, userC....

then everything works fine. userA and userB are members of the group
users, so I don't know why treats the two configurations differently. Is
there a smbgroup thing I need to do?

Thanks,

Ben
