Would you stand aside so I can jump ahead of you?  Gmail for me was 
about curiosity and late night bordom as much as it was securing my name 
and trying for a couple unique names just for the hell of it.  I've also 
been uploading some files as a back up solution.  Just playing around as 
much as anything else.  I like the idea of a gmail/yahoo type email 
solution in general, though at this point I've never made much use of 
them.  I see it as a good way to keep a single email address even though 
ISP's may change.
