I know nothing about USB, but I doubt it.  Seems to me you need the USB 
equivalent of a null modem adapter to reverse the sense of transmission and 
reception. You might be able to use one of those USB-to-USB file transfer 
cables, but I do not know if they have Linux drivers available.  

I use a USB-to-serial adapter on my laptop, it works like a champ. On Fedora, 
at least, the driver seems to be loaded automatically. (http://cyberguys.com
