isoinfo is probably the only thing you can try.

mkisofs has the following option:
 -A application_id
 Specifies a text string that will be written into the volume header.

How do I read the volume header?  And as a follow up, is this the option I
want?  For a data DVD I had the idea of including a string that would give
the info about the contents, e.g., "Table Mountain data from July through
Dec 2003".  I see -P and -p.  
Maybe those would be better.
