Worked wonderfully, thanks!

A side note for anyone doing google searches. It also pointed out a bad 
config file with a space instead of an '=', line 2 of 
/usr/share/control-center-2.0/capplets/gpilotd-control-applet.desktop
(the Encoding line, had to replace space with '=')

Also whatever package does the installs fails to set directory 
permissions right. The files in /usr/lib/qt-3.3/etc/settings/ need to be 
readable by the world but are readable only by root.
