[lug] Q. on debian sarge update breaking IMAP/squirelmail

I was asked if I can find out for someone who just did a massive update 
on a debian sarge machine (since the change stable status) what change 
would have caused squirrelmail to now fail to connect to an IMAP server. 
Anyone know which update would have caused this...or what file/edit is 
needed for him to get things working again?
