FYI, I've always left Windows on the first drive and put grub in the
MBR. Even if you have to reinstall windows, the worst thing that can
happen is that windows will (guaranteed) overwrite the MBR. So you
need a recovery CD to put grub back in the MBR. Windows can't even see
your Linux partitions.

Of course, I never reinstall windows, and I boot it once a year
whether I need to or not <grin>
