Just remember that if you run strace you need to strace mozilla-bin, not 
mozilla, which is a frontend script. You can look at the front end 
script, it's plain english, and add arguments if you want. Sometimes 
just the mozilla-bin will give you messages that the frontend script 
obfuscates.

On the other hand, it isn't unusual for such problems to be removed by 
removing settings in prefs.js. In the home directory, somewhere under 
.mozilla, will be prefs.js. Move it to a backup location, and start 
mozilla...it'll automatically regenerate the file with defaults.

On a similar note, there is another file which can mess up, XUL.mfasl. 
Move that to a backup spot if prefs.js doesn't work, and start mozilla 
to regenerate it.

Before you start mozilla, if you've attempted starting it at all, be 
sure to "killall -9 mozilla-bin" from the user login which is being used 
to test with.
