Hello,

I am having trouble with sound in Suse 10.

I get sound, but it keeps repeating segments over and over. It sounds
like a cd skipping.

When i do dmesg i get this:

ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 1c)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 0)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 3c)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 1c)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 0)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 3c)
ALSA sound/pci/atiixp.c:462: atiixp: codec read timeout (reg 1c)
ALSA sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:1959: AC'97 1 does not respond - RESET
ALSA sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:1968: AC'97 1 access is not valid
[0xffffffff], removing mixer.

I have googled and have not really found anything. I found one thread
that describes my exact problem, but the only response was to add
acpci=off, which i was already doing that.

I have a ATI onboard sound card on a gigabyte motherboard.

I swear the sound used to work. I am using kernel 2.6.13-15.8-smp

Does anybody have any suggestions??

Thanks,
Jason Motes
