I saw you mentioning this on the IRC channel, but not here until now. So,
I'll repeat myself a bit for the benefit of others.

We had a Brother 3820CN, Ethernet connected multifunction device, but never
got it to do anything with a Linux box except scan to e-mail (which was
done via SMTP as a jpeg or TIFF. I think at one point I got it to print
something, but it was never set up so I could do anything but print images.
I also had problems making it print from the memory card slots.

It flaked out after about a year, wouldn't reliably do the faxing.

We replaced it with the 2840, and have been quite happy with it. We have
scanning and printing working flawlessly on it, haven't tried setting up
desktop faxing or memory card access, but printing from the memory car
works great. It's easy to set all this stuff up. Getting colors on the
screen in inkscape to look like what happens when you print can be tricky,
but efm made it happen.

So far, no problems. We've had it 7 months, printed around 3k pages, over
half with color.

Thanks,
Sean
