I guess I don't really know how popular OpenVPN is.  I assume it must not be
that popular among the Ubuntu crowd.  Mac and Windows both come with VPN
services in their home editions, though, right?  That should be a clue that
it's a necessary feature I think.  I just checked, and linux-pptp seems to be
a main Ubuntu package.  So they will update the security for the proprietary
Microsoft VPN but not the most popular Free VPN?  :<  

If there's a downside to OpenVPN relative to PPTP other than "Microsoft
doesn't use it", I'm all ears.  I'm not an expert on VPNs, but I haven't found
any flaws in OpenVPN yet, and if there were flaws they would probably affect me.
I would go so far as to say OpenVPN is "excellent" software, and I'm pretty
cranky and don't say that often about software.
