Well, the vendor in question was indeed newegg...  We've had some other
batches from them that were fine, but we typically were purchasing from
another vendor so we don't have a lot of history with newegg on drives.
Other things I've ordered from them have been fine.

However, I haven't had much luck recently with Seagates.  I got 10 Seagate
120GB SATAs back when Seagate was the only place you could get SATA, mostly
to try out this SATA stuff, and those were fine.  Since then I got a number
of the 300GB drives and had lots of trouble with them.

These were shipped in sealed anti-static baggies, which looked to be
factory packaging, and then were wrapped in bubble wrap.  Of course, the
wrapping involves someone handling them, which is why we started getting
case quantities, so that they aren't dorked with after they leave the
factory.
