[lug] ivtv: now what?

Hi,

I'm trying to copy from an old analog VCR to linux disk.
I installed ivtv on my Suse 10.2 system ... but now what? The boot
messages seem to indicate ivtv found the Hauppauge 250 card OK.

But how do I copy from an analog VCR to disk?
I plugged into the yellow RCA jack (I'm pretty sure that's video in
on the Hauppauge card), but the card has no corresponding audio in (?).

Then I hit "play" on the VCR and tried whatever TV-related programs I could find:

zapping and xawtv both failed and reported:
X Error of failed request: XF86DGANoDirectVideoMode

kdetv did start a window, with some complaints (attached),
but now what? The kdetv program seems entirely oriented
to watching current TV.

How can I copy from an analog VCR to disk?

Many thanks,

Steve
