If you find this to be the case, one approach might be to buy a matching
used laptop and do the replacement yourself, or simply move your hard drive
to the working unit and call it done.  I wouldn't try the latter method with
Windows.  You might even get a bonus memory upgrade and lots of extra spare
parts for the next time something breaks.
