With the cost of discs being so low these days, I'm doing the same... 
just as a "me too" type of comment.  Not very helpful, I know.

But it's so darn cheap, I think we have three or four external USB 
drives and one Firewire (for Firewire booting the Macs if needed) around 
here somewhere now...
