Realistically... for most of us:  No.  Overseas flights require equipment
(and training) that's far too expensive.

But you know... if you own and operate your own Gulfstream V... or you're
John Travolta and you have a private Boeing 707 in a hangar attached to your
house and a runway in your front lawn...

Heh... I guess it all depends on how much aircraft you can afford!  

There are definitely folks that get around the continental U.S. just fine,
though... 

Sam Walton of Wal-Mart fame was well known for making surprise visits to his
generally rural (back when they started) Wal-Mart stores by flying his
Cessna-310 into the local airport, borrowing a car, and showing up
unannounced and acting like he was just some doddering old fool of a
customer just to see if his employees took care of customers...
