As far as I know, eSATA is SATA with a different cable. That's it. So 
it's speed is the same as an internal SATA drive.

USB-3 is supposedly using the same signaling protocols as SATA 6 Gb. So 
yes it is fast. But I fail to see how it is going to be faster than SATA 
since the signaling is the same.
