[lug] Fedora 8 on new hardware network booting problem

I am trying to network boot Fedora 8 (F8) on a newer hardware, Intel
S3420GP. The new hardware has two NICs that by default have no drivers on
them. I successfully installed the F8 on this board from a DVD, compiled and
installed the NIC driver (e1000e source code downloaded from intel) and all
this works fine. Yet cannot kickstart PXE boot from network.

To get the network boot going, I prepared the initrd.img file by following
the directions from
http://www.dark.ca/2009/06/10/initrd-modules-and-tools/and included
the e1000e driver that I built after the DVD installation
above. When I boot up from the network, the board successfully sends dhcp
request, retrieves the PXE files, loads the initrd.img file and breaks when
inserting the e1000e module with the following message:
...
Warning: failed to insert module (8)
Error: failed to insert /tmp/e1000e.ko
...
There are many steps in that procedure and therefore many places for a
problem to occur, especially with the initrd.img file, yet the error message
does not tell much. I am puzzled that the e1000e.ko fails to load if it was
built/loaded and worked successfully after booting from the DVD.

If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate.

Thanks,
Swavek
