Then how can my CD-player (shelf CD-player, no computer involved) know
the titles of the songs of a few CDs my wife put in it? I'm sure it
hasn't internet connection, neither enough ROM to have its own
database (and by the way, the CD my wife has are pretty obscure, not
famous stuff).

I thought it was some "kind of" metadata (not from the original CD
standard, of course) that at least a few manufacturers (of CDs and
CD-players) agreed.
