[lug] lexmark printer compatibility?

Hi,

I've been digging in, looking at different printers to replace my old one,
which was native PostScript (and thus too expensive for base price). I'm
kind of staying away from HP and Epson for various reasons (mostly windows
driver issues on HP, and print head clogging in Epson), and am liking what
I see in Lexmark, e.g., Pro205 or Pro705. Even though I've found Lexmark
drivers for Linux, I have to support an older linux, at least for a while. Which
means I do not have much possibility of using modern RPM installs, or much
update ability in general, on at least one computer. So I'm wondering what the
Lexmark print language would be, and can only find a hint that "maybe" it is
PCL6. Anyone here know what printer language is used in the Lexmark
inkjets? If someone here has a Lexmark inkjet, how far back in time can you
think of that it was installed and worked (both time and distro version)?

Thanks,
