National Jewish Health has an opening for a Systems Software Engineer to
support the research mission of the Center for Genes, Environment, and
Health. Creates innovative solutions to meet the needs of Biomedical
Researchers. Provides timely, accurate data of the broadest feasible scope,
while maintaining data privacy and security. Responsible for management of a
variety of study databases, set-up and maintenance of a Linux computing
cluster for data analysis and storage, a mix of programming languages and
techniques to integrate these study databases with analysis programs,
popular research tools, and public databases.
*Knowledge and Skills*
Ability to set-up and maintain a Linux cluster for analysis and storage of
genetic data is required. Understands the research process well enough to
help researchers shape their requirements and to translate these
requirements into system specifications. Ability to explain technical
concepts to suit the understanding of a listener/reader. Empathy with how
people learn to use software. Familiar with standard concepts in software
testing and database design. Knowledge of, but not limited to, J2EE, HTML,
XML, Java, Perl, Python,C++,C#, .NET, SQL Server 2005, mySQL, XML, MS
Access. Learns new programming languages, libraries, techniques, APIs as
needed.
*Certification/Licensure*
None.
*Education*
Bachelor‚s Degree in Computer Science or in a related area, required.
Master‚s degree preferred.
*Experience* A minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience
required.
