Yes, but realize that monitoring is not a program you install, but a
process...  For all but the most trivial of environments, expect to spend
significant time setting it up and then even more on an ongoing basis
tuning and tweaking it.

In other words, monitoring is a big job to do right.

That said, I'd recommend you look at OpsView.  It's a web frontend to
Nagios that will make your life much easier.

That's not a question that can be asked as a single sentence, I would
suspect.  I'm really not familiar with it though.

Do you mean the check command plugins?  Have you installed the plugins
package?  Often you just have to go to nagiosexchange and grab a plugin,
but many of the common ones are available in the plugins package.
