will this method allow you to import batches of photos into a gallery at one time?  a lot of these blogging type galleries force you to upload each image one at a time via a dialog box, click ok, wait until upload, rinse wash and repeat.  if he's taking lots of pictures of students this might not be showstopper.

i'm ashamed to say i've never used flickr ;).  does anybody know if you can batch upload images to it?  is it via ftp or a client applet or even integration with an image editing app? if so is it easy to use?

what about any of the other suggestions people made here?

since gallery/menalto is OS and you runs on your own server, i imagine it has gallery import but is that only once images are uploaded to the server in a directory or via a client side applet?

thanks
Not sure if this fits your need, but if you set up a Wordpress site with
the NextGen gallery plugin you can set up galleries very easily.  You
add galleries to pages (one line tag as the page content) and then
protect the pages with passwords.  Users can browse the images, right
click to save them.

I use this on my own site: http://www.graphics-muse.org/wp/?page_id=123

FYI & IMHO - Wordpress is much easier to setup (5 minutes) and use than
tools like Drupal, Joomla and the like for projects like this.
