My experence with 64bit installs is RHEL/CentOS and Fedora, where they
work just fine. I've been running 64 bit on my laptop for many years. 

As far as flash, you have several options: 

a) Try one of the free clones and see if they meet your needs, they all
come in 64bit versions (gnash, swfdec, lightspark)

b) Use the 32bit adobe flash plugin with nspluginwrapper. This would
mean you would have to have some 32bit packages installed, but should
work fine. 

c) Use the 64bit beta adobe plugin. Note that this works fine, but
adobe is even more horrible about updating it than the 32bit version,
so it's likely riddled with security problems at any given time.
