This is amazing. For several weeks (months?) I have been unable to watch
video on my computer, which is two or three yr old HP hardware running
Debian Squeeze (no Windows, I scrubbed that when I got it 2nd hand). I
don't have much desire to watch videos, so I haven't really work on the
problem --- but I decided to click on the link in this email and up came
the video of a BLUG meeting. It happened without tinkering or reading
man pages or editing config files or anything. Then I checked my other
sources of videos, the NYT and WSJ and both were still not working. What
do you people know that WSJ and NYT don't know?

Seeing this demonstrates that my computer can display videos. But what
are NYT&WSJ requiring beyond default software? I have subscriptions to
both and do keep the computer logged in to there sites. Neither has ever
told me I needed something special. Is there some Debian package that
is needed by some sites, but not all? What might it be?

One special consideration is that I don't have a full Gnome installation.
I do have Gnome Terminal and whatever it pulls in by dependencies. My
desktop manager is Xfce4, which is available in Squeeze. If there are
any xfce4 tweeks needed, how can your video feed work without the tweeks?
A very happy, but puzzled old guy here.

Suggestions?
