Summary of 'The Robotic Operating System'
-----------------------------------------

As robots make their way into our everyday lives, so does Linux. The
Robotics Operating System (ROS), built on Linux, is today one of the main
platforms for roboticists around the world, and even in space. It is used
extensively in academia, industry and government. A review of the state of
the art in robotics will be followed by a description of the ROS
architecture. In its 6th year of development, some of the lessons that
have been learned with ROS will be discussed including the choice build
systems, release tools, version control, and package maintenance. Though
not perfect, ROS is a successful example of a world wide collaborative open
source effort.

Pre meeting food
----------------

Food will be available at the meeting location, so please show up around 6:45 pm
and join us for a bite to eat. We'll start the meeting about 7:15.
