[lug] Mac Package Managers

Thanks to all who responded to my request for a Mac package-manager
recommendation. Homebrew seems to be the near-consensus choice.

The brew install was a one-liner, cut-and-paste <http://brew.sh>. At some
point, it prompted me to install the Xcode command-line-tools, so I did,
but that didn't turn out to be a full Xcode install, which I'm told is
heavyweight and not something I'll use in the near future.

I used brew right away to install bash. The bash in Yosemite is bash
3.2.57, from 2007, which is a long time ago in dog years. It choked on my
dots files. Brew installs bash 4.3.33, and I now log in without complaint.

I also installed tree and git. The OS/X git is recent enough, but git's
still evolving quickly, and there are newer things I use. All these, brew
did with alacrity and without complaint.

YMMV, but so far it seems like it does what I need.

Much appreciated.
