The test I posted a little while ago (at about 720K/sec) was between a 486-100
(with wd8003) and a very, very fast system over 10 megabit ethernet.  Pretty
clearly the 486 is the bottleneck here.  If your system is slower than a
486-100 (and most 486's were), then something like 300-400K seems about right.
