50K connections.

A USR Sportster External will set you back about 130 bucks, give or
take a few, and is well worth the extra money for the reduced
problem-induced headaches. (A v.Everything is about $300, BTW). 

I have been using USR modems almost exclusively since 1986, and the few
times I've used something else, I have regretted it.

<cosmo> wow, this is kinda nifty. the Win98 protocol stack is like a chinese puzzle, twist and turn in the right places, and it pops right off.
