[lug] Linux FileServer Problems

We're making some progress. With the incantations you both recommended, I
can mount the dos drives RW at boot time and write to *some* of them. In
particular, I can write to FAT16 drives. But one of my drives has an fdisk
that looks like this:

Disk /dev/hdd: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 790 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdd1             2       789   6329610    5  Extended
/dev/hdd5             2       374   2996091    b  Win95 FAT32
/dev/hdd6           375       716   2747083+   b  Win95 FAT32
/dev/hdd7           717       789    586341    b  Win95 FAT32

When I do a df on this drive, I see that it supposedly has no space
available. When I try to write to it from windows, it's the BSOD with "no
space on network drive". And when I shutdown/reboot, it gives me some
message about a bad FSINFO before it wipes the screen.

I'm pretty close to throwing $200 at this problem and buying a new HDD that
I can format as ext2fs and copy all this junk onto it. It's sucked up a
couple o' days already. But I'd really like to know if there is a solution!
