I understand -- I need to pass this off to someone else, though, later.
Equally good: in my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory, there
is currently ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-eth1 scripts.  I tried to make
a ifcfg-eth0:1 script, and the do a /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart,
but it just loaded either the second (:1) eth0, or loaded both, and the
:1 last, which won.  Any idea how I need to name these so the
network script'll find them?
