You are confusing US West the ISP with US West the telco.  They 
aren't the same thing.

You're right, US West as a telco is pretty good, especially 
considering the crappy companies out there competing against them 
like ICG. FYI though, their lack of good service on POTS is what gets 
them into trouble in Colorado.

US West the ISP is another matter.  You haven't apparently noticed 
the major outages.
