[lug] Changing paths

I recently installed the GNU Privacy Guard (GPG) software on my system,
and things seem to be working well as long as I'm running from the
console.  If I try logging into my machine from home it appears that the
gpg software is no longer in my path.

I know that there are some differences in security settings depending on
whether one is logged in from the console versus a remote terminal, but I
don't recall ever seeing this behavior before.  Any explanations?  I'm
running Debian 2.1.
