[lug] single-user authenticated Linux client for VPN

Does anyone know how to set up a single-user authenticated Linux client for
VPN services?  Apparently, the instructions at
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/VPN.html tell you how to set up a VPN
client for Linux, but they don't say how to set it up so that the master
side can lock down the client side to a specific user.
