[lug] backspace key not working in vi (off topic)

I got rid of it by modifying the system wide vimrc which is buried deep somewhere.
I find it by doing 'locate vim|grep macro'  I think you can also find it by
doing vi --version.  I also just traced through what happens on boot up and
found the appropriate rc files that set the color ls and all of that stuff.
