We have 2 part-time positions available at NOAA, at the David Skaggs
Research Center on 325 Broadway in Boulder.
Systems Reasearch Group,  based in Colorado Springs has a long term
contract with the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to support the Forcast Systems
Lab Computer Network. Here at the lab among other things,  we are into
Phase II of development of a massive parallel computer (Alpha boxes
running on RedHat Linux platform). When fully operational (2002) it will
be capable of processing up to 5 Teraflops of data per second. 

COMPUTER OPERATOR
Job Description:
Monitor, operate and support real-time systems and perpherals.  Provide
ops support for multiple systems including problem determination and
resolution.  Prior operations experience not necessary.  Familiarity
with UNIX / LINUX at user level a plus.  Must be computer literate and
be willing to learn.  Part-time, approx. 27 hours per week (4 days on 3 
days off --3 days on 4 days off  alternating weekly schedule), 10:00PM
to 6:00AM (Graveyard).  Must be able to work one weekend shift.  This is
a hourly position which also pays a 10% shift differental and Vacation /
Holiday pay.  Great opportunity for a working student! (Over 18)

We are also looking for a SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (All Levels)

Qualifications:
Exp with at least one of the foillowing (HP-UX, Linux, Solaris) in a R&D
enviornment.  Perform OS installations, maintance, upgrades, system
tuning and performance analysis.  Experience with Korn Shell, C Shell,
PERL and C++, DNS, NFS, NIS, TCP/IP, Network and X Windows apps 2-5 yrs
experience.  Excellent Communication skills a must.
