Peter,

You don't have to use CMYK even if you are going to color separate 
and print in tri-color gum. For Ziatype, absolutely not. So if you 
wanted to use GIMP because of the expense of Adobe Photoshop, you can 
buy Photoshop LE for $99 - it doesn't have CMYK either.

Of course GIMP being free is even better. Please let us know how you 
like using it, as well as how well it works in making enlarged 
negatives for Ziatype.
