[lug] Localhost telnet'ing problem

I was playing with my latest webmin installation and was trying to telnet to
the localhost on one of the screens it has. Nothing happened and I noticed the
following in the logfile:

Sep 27 22:18:35 localhost in.telnetd[12338]: connect from 127.0.0.1
Sep 27 22:18:35 localhost telnetd[12338]: ttloop:  read: Broken pipe 

I cannot telnet to localhost or 127.0.0.1 either when logged into a shell. Any
ideas what might cause this error?
