[lug] backups again

What shell are you using? I'm using bash and
tar cvf junk.tar . 1> out 2> err &
worked fine. The command above directs the listing to the file "out" and
any errors go to "err". Personally I like to interleave the two so that I
can tell where the error occurred.

OK I just tried what was recommended:

root> tar cvf /dev/ht0 . 1> /tmp/tar1.log 2> /tmp/tar2.log &
Ambiguous output redirect.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm what gives?

Can once I fix that can I add something to direct the listing to a
file?

EX:

root> tar cvf /dev/ht0 . >backuplist.oct102000

Thanks again.
