I just took the Sys Admin II course at Sun, and they said it 
was on their "science project" list.  They've certainly
backed off NIS+, though.  In the course it was only mentioned
in the Naming Services section, but there was a whole chapter
on NIS.  LDAP was mentioned in the Naming Services section,
too, but knowledge about LDAP is very limited in the Educational
department.
