[lug] Default Gateway

I have recently (OK, a month ago) setup DSL on my home network.
Everything works wonderfully, except I have to manually set the
default gateway every time I reboot the computer.  Currently, this is
not a big issue...I have yet to reboot, and if I did I have the
default gateway line inserted in my firewall script which runs when
the system boots.

Is there a better place to set the default gateway than the firewall
script?  I am currently running Debian 2.2.
