I would suggest Neomail as well. I've been using it for quite a while and it's
small, quick, easy to setup and use. IMP, like Sean said, was a big hairy mess
for me too. Never got it to work correctly. Also, I run my Neomail with SSL
encryption so it is possible to have it secure over https.
