Would you look at that, it worked :)
[glowecon at oldschool glowecon]$ tail -15 /var/log/messages
Nov 15 13:37:33 localhost inet: inetd startup succeeded
Nov 15 13:37:46 localhost kernel: Kernel logging (proc) stopped.
Nov 15 13:37:46 localhost kernel: Kernel log daemon terminating.
Nov 15 13:37:48 localhost syslog: klogd shutdown succeeded
Nov 15 13:37:48 localhost exiting on signal 15
Nov 15 13:37:49 oldschool syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
Nov 15 13:37:49 oldschool syslog: syslogd startup succeeded
Nov 15 13:37:49 oldschool syslog: klogd startup succeeded
Nov 15 13:37:49 oldschool kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg
started.
I changed the /etc/hosts file like mentioned below which is how it should be
setup as far as I know. I'll chalk this one up as a stupid oversite :)
Thanks for helping me find my mistake.
