If you are firewalling your machine, make sure you let the auth protocol
through to the identd daemon. Many mail hosts can exhibit lots of strange
behaviors if the sender isn't running identd.

Subject: [lug] Can't send email to uswest domain
It's impossible for me to send email to people in the uswest domain. I
believe it's because I have a psuedo domain and it appears in my headers.
My return address however, is legitimate and authentic. I haven't
experienced problems with any other destination. Has anybody on this list
had the same problem? This just started happening about 3 weeks ago, and
I swear that I hadn't made any system changes just to precipitate it. I
tried editting /etc/sendmail.cf and deleted the "DM" designation where the
psuedo domain spec was specified, but to no avail.
If I 1st send to my shell account at csd.net then telnet in and forward
from there, the mail is accepted.
An example of my header:
V2
T976721049
K976721516
N1
P121036
I8/7/106179
