[lug] Traceroute question

As I understand traceroute - it sends out packets with increasing ttl (time 
to live )counts and receives ttl expired responses back. The time is measured.

Now when I remember right, when checking a slow connection to some site - 
the times after the bottleneck are all slow.

from man page:
"a line is printed showing the ttl, address of the gateway and round trip 
time of  each probe.

with your speed issue:  If you have ADSL ( asymmetric ), you may want to 
check the ratio of in/out bandwidth in the router, may be it's _very_ 
asymmetric causing your slow times.
