[lug] compiling kernel 2.4.0 (a note for RH7 users)

OK....

I think the kgcc situation was peculiar to RedHat's 7.0 distribution and
isn't to be
used anywhere else.

I did ftp a 40Mbyte file from one machine into the I-opener. I haven't check
going
outbound, but everything was received. It took a long time, the hub
indicated some
rather large amounts of inactive time on the LEDs, so perhaps I still have
some
kind of problem. Total was about 100Kbytes/second, but it started out a lot
faster
than that.

I do want to go to 2.4.0, but I'll wait until it's part of some
distributions.
