[lug] starting my own applications under KDE in Mandrake/Linux

Yes There is.
You should have an "Autostart" folder on your desktop. (Though
sometimes for some reason it's not installed) If you don't have it then
here is what you do:
In your home directory you should have a ~/.kde/Autostart directory.
I usually drag it to the desktop and select "link here" from the
menu that pops up. (Makes life easier from then on)
Open the ~/.kde/Autostart directory using the kde file manager.
Then right click and select "Create New" -> "Application"
This will now ask you to enter the program you wish to run,
parameters, etc.
Save it.
Click on the newly created Application icon. (The app/script
should start)
If it doesn't check the settings.
If it works, logout then log back in and the application you
created will start.
(It will now start every time you log in)
Basically KDE will run any .kdelnk files in your .kde/Autostart
directory.
It may run scripts and apps directly. (I have not tried that yet)
