What you have to do is install them all simultaneously.
rpm -Uvh glibc-common-2.2-12-i386.rpm glibc-2.2-12.i686.rpm ......
like so.

Subject: [lug] Red Hat 7 glibc update
In my efforts to install Interbase 6 on our Red Hat 7.0 server I have been
informed it needs a glibc update. Here's where my instructions are...
http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=2155&group_id=9028
In those directions it says to update glibc-2.2-5.i386.rpm which isn't
available anymore but Red Hat has glibc-2.2-12.i386.rpm. That file requires
glibc-common-2.2-12.i386.rpm. When I try to install the glibc-common files
the server tells me:
error: failed dependencies:
glibc < 2.2-12 conflicts with glibc-common-2.2-12
However if I try to install glibc-2.2-12.i386.rpm it says the glibc-common
is required.
I wondered if anyone can help me get the glibc libraries updated?
Thanks!
