[lug] wireless lan problems - solved

HI,
I am glad to report that my wireless LAN card is working now.  In fact I
am currently connected to the net through it.

Here is what I had to do:

- get the linux-wlan drivers for my d-link DWL-650 card (Intersil
PrismII chipset)
- get the latest pcmcia_cs source from sourceforge
- compile those drivers;  this wasn't easy - I had trouble with the
bridge.o driver in 2.4.1 and it wouldn't compile under 2.2.18 either. 
There was a specific bug with 2.2.18 that seemed to cause my problems
(based on a deja.com search).
- the RedHat kernel 2.2.17-14 (RPM) on my rh6.2 system finally did the
trick.

There were lots of little kinks in the road and if anybody has similar
problems I will be glad to help.  Currently I am using infrastructure
mode and will test ad-hoc soon.

Many thanks to Sean and Kevin for their help.  I would still be way deep
in the boonies without their advice.
