[lug] ESS ES1868 Detected but won't init.

One possibility is that each audio card has more than one function on
it. For example, the joystick is actually separate hardware that just
happens to be integrated with sound cards. Or midi, sometimes also
antique proprietary cd rom interfaces. Possibly part succeeded and part
failed, but it didn't specify exactly what failed to initialize.
